Issues with the PC version ofElden Ring continue thanks to a new Steam Cloud error that is now causing players to lose their save data and forcing them to either completely start over or continue with chunks of their in-game progress missing. FromSoftware's latest action role-playing game Elden Ring launched last week to almost universal critical acclaim, becoming one of the highest-rated games in history. While reviews celebrated it upon launch, the title also received some criticism due to technical issues that were left unaddressed by its developers. Most importantly, Elden Ring suffered performance issues that prevented many from playing, even players running the game on high-end PCs. Players reported poor graphical performance despite having computer specs above the recommended level.
Elden Ring peaked at more than 600,000 players on Steam within the first hour of launch but was shortly met with aggrieved players who review bombed the title on Steam largely due to stuttering issues, frame rate drops, and sudden crashes. Upon release, the title carried «Mixed» reviews on Steam despite being one of the best-rated games of all time. However, since then, FromSoftware has released minor Elden Ring patches to fix many of the third-person action RPG's issues and the title now sits at «Very Positive,» despite several remaining issues.
