Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki has admitted to drawing inspiration from many sources, including games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Elder Scrolls series, and The Witcher 3. George R. R. Martin has admitted to finding inspiration from the likes of Shakespeare, Tolkien, and Stan Lee. At no point did either of these Elden Ring creators mention Studio Ghibli, makers of such fantastic films as Whisper of the Grave of the Fireflies, Ponyo, and The Wind Rises. Which is fair, as none of Studio Ghibli's films featured a lake of rot.
But it seems easy to imagine a version of the Lands Between that's a little more forgiving, has bigger eyes, and a moral that doesn't involve killing an entire lineage of demigods. And we have Brooke (Reddit user Expensive-Peak2470) to thank for giving us a tiny peek into this alternate version of Elden Ring.

"I’ve been drawing scenes and characters from Elden Ring reimagined as Ghibli movies and I thought y’all might enjoy!" Brooke wrote on a Reddit post that has since received over 6,500 upvotes. She also posted three pictures she drew, including one of Ranni and Blaidd, one of Siofra River, and one of the Blade of Miquella.
It also seems like she progressed through Studio Ghibli's styles in her images. Blaidd and Ranni have a definite Kiki's Delivery Service kinda vibe, while Siofra River almost looks like the magic forest from My Neighbor Totoro. That intense glare definitely reminds me of Princess Mononoke's determination to rid the forest of miners.
We should note that Brooke actually gave Malenia eyes in her image, something she doesn't actually have in-game. But it's hard to make a Ghibli-fied
