An Elden Ring player suffered a tragic death at the horns of a random ram just after felling one of the game’s giant bosses. The latest title from Dark Souls series developer FromSoftware was one of the most anticipated games of the year, and since its February release players have been sharing their clips and stories from the Lands Between.
The game received pretty much universal critical acclaim from reviewers at launch, with Elden Ring becoming OpenCritic’s highest-rated game ever. Many have already considered Elden Ring to be the best game FromSoftware has made so far, as it successfully blends the Dark Souls formula with open-world mechanics while also making it more accessible to a larger audience. As expected from FromSoftware, Elden Ring is filled with challenges for its players, with danger lurking around every corner.

Redditor Murney24 shared their death by ram on the Elden Ring subreddit, with a video showing them landing the killing blows to one of the game’s Golem bosses. They then proceed to pick up the loot the boss has dropped, only to be suddenly kicked from the inventory menu when a random roaming ram doesn't only attack them, but actually kills them. Murney24 describes the incident as their “most embarrassing death in a FromSoft game to date.” While rams are just part of the beings that players can farm for crafting materials in Elden Ring, Golems are some of the Elden Ring’s tougher enemies. Dying to the former just after beating the latter is certainly an unfortunate turn of events.
