This is mostly due to the way that several animations are recognizable from earlier Dark Souls titles, but Elden Ring's unique animations can show the effort put into bringing the world and its characters to life.
One player appears to have found one of those unique animations during a PvP match, posting their findings to the Elden Ring subreddit where other fans have quickly started speculating on the cause. Additionally, some fans have also noticed that this unique animation has some similarities with one from Dark Souls 3 that activates under certain conditions.

However, instead of falling backwards the way a headshot kill in Elden Ring would normally leave the dead player, the adversary falls forward and crumples into a ball. At the end of the clip, Nox_Huntress even shows the difference between this unique animation and the regular death when fighting against a bow and arrow in Elden Ring.
It appears that the cause of this unique animation may be that the adversary was jumping when the arrow landed the headshot, even if the jump is hard to notice in the clip. Some fans have also noticed that this animation may have also appeared in previous FromSoftware titles, including Dark Souls 3 among others.
