Elden Ring has a ton of mechanics that it leaves players to figure out, including its Spirit Ashes. It can take some time for players to figure out when/where these summons will work, but when they do, players can trivialize a ton of Elden Ring boss fights with the right ones. There is a certain disparity in terms of each summon's viability, though, leading many players to use just a handful of them. For example, the Mimic Tear was nerfed shortly after release simply because of how many players quickly flocked to it over other summons.
Still, the community's focus has been on a handful of more meta Spirit Ashes, leaving many quickly behind in Elden Ring's early game. That's if they even used them at all.
