The latest Elden Ring patch brings balance changes for a number of weapons, skills and spells while also giving Patches' questline a proper conclusion. FromSoftware's open-world fantasy title contains both single-player and multiplayer elements, so maintaining balance is essential. Elden Ring Patch 1.03 brought nerfs to items like the Mimic Tear Ash and the Sword of Night and Flame, and now Patch 1.04 is making even more adjustments.
Post-launch patches let FromSoftware improve Elden Ring over time and add missing content into the game. For example, Patch 1.03 removed a notorious bug that allowed exploiters to easily kill their multiplayer foes. Combining the Fire's Deadly Sin incantation with the Eclipse Shotel sword spread the Death ailment across a wide area, instantly killing any enemies caught in the radius. Thankfully Patch 1.03 fixed this issue, and it also severely nerfed the infamously powerful boss Starscourge Radahn. However, this nerf was apparently unintentional, so a follow-up patch made Elden Ring boss Starscourge Radahn stronger to bring him back to his former glory.

As revealed by publisher Bandai Namco, Elden Ring Patch 1.04 will further tweak the fantasy epic's balance. Colossal weapons have received a noticeable buff to attack damage, speed and recovery time. FP and Stamina growth rates at lower levels have been increased, with high-level players able to take advantage by re-equipping items or leveling up. A bug with the Carian Retaliation weapon art, which allowed it to create invisible instant-death projectile, has also been fixed.
