As spotted by DSO Gaming, a modder who goes by the alias asmartcowmods has just released a custom add-on for Elden Ring that allows players to take on the role of Halo's Master Chief. As well as providing the player with Chief's armor, it also comes with the Gunnery mod and the Battle Rifle replacement for the M16, which means that this is more than just a model swap. In general, it affords fans the opportunity to jump into the shoes of someone other than The Tarnished.

As well as being one of the most successful FPS franchises in the world, Halo's distinctive protagonist is also one of the most iconic video game heroes ever conceived. The games themselves helped to set in motion the influence of the original Xbox back in the early 21st century. To give some idea of just how much of an impact the series has had on the gaming world, the first three Halo entries are currently in Metacritic's greatest games of all time list, with the first installment at the number 22 spot. For comparison, Elden Ring is currently sitting comfortably around the mid-30s, which is still mightily impressive, especially given that it's only been out for a few months.
