Elden Ring Meme Reimagines It As A Cluttered Ubisoft Game
Elden Ring fans and Ubisoft critics have banded around a recently unleashed meme that praises the former while making a dig at the latter. The recently released and critically acclaimed FromSoftware title has been the inspiration for countless memes, with several gamers making direct use of Elden Ring's messaging system to make jokes and references to IPs like Fortnite.
When looking at the broad spectrum of modern video game developers, Ubisoft and FromSoftware are about as far apart as companies can get. Elden Ring has made a major impact on the gaming community for its challenging, unforgiving combat, but also for its novel approach to open-world game design. Rather than constantly pointing players in the "right" direction via waypoints, markers, and quest logs, Elden Ring gives very general, sometimes unclear, instructions, forcing players to carve their own paths. Ubisoft, on the other hand, has been making open-world games for over a decade now and has settled into an instantly recognizable formula that utilizes all aforementioned conventions and mechanics. Variations of this formula can be found in nearly all of the Ubisoft franchises, from the globe-trotting Far Cry games to the time-traveling Assassin's Creed series.
