In a recent update video, the lead director on Overwatch 2 admits that the development team has let down its fanbase through various shortcomings. This update video follows a long period of radio silence from Blizzard with regards to the highly anticipated sequel, with fans knowing little more than the fact that Overwatch 2 is going to be delayed.
Since its 2016 release, Overwatch has seen regular updates and content expansions from its developer. In its first year alone, iconic characters like Orisa and Sombra were added, with subsequent years introducing beloved heroes such as Wrecking Ball, Baptiste, and Doomfist. New maps, outfits, and collectibles were also added to the game. Despite this ongoing support, it seems like new content for the game has slowed down as Blizzard shifts more of its focus to the development of the sequel. Very little has been revealed about Overwatch 2, however, which has led some fans to feel disappointed about the lack of any sort of Overwatch-related content. Luckily for these fans, a playable beta for Overwatch 2 was announced earlier today, and is set to go live in April.
