Elden Ring has ten starting classes to choose from. How you build them and what weapons you use is up to you. If you happen to have distributed your stats incorrectly, if you found a cool-looking weapon that doesn't align with your character, or if you just want to switch things up a little, you can be reborn without actually restarting the game.

However, you can't just walk up to your average town merchant and say, "Hey, Bob. I'd like to redistribute my stats. How much is that?" Instead, the game asks you to defeat a demigod and hand hear an item known as Larval Tear.
Larval Tears are rare items in Elden Ring. They are scattered all over the map, and you can use them to respec your character. The NPC behind the stat reallocation is Renalla, Queen of the Full Moon — once you have defeated her, that is.
After she has been beaten, she will become an NPC with the ability to rebirth your character. And she will gladly do so as long as you give her a Larval Tear in exchange.
The first Larval Tear can be found on Limgrave, near the cliffs above the southern Site of Grace on Lake Agheel. On one of the cliffs above, but below the enemy camp, you will find an Undead Soldier. Once defeated, he will turn into a Lesser Runebear thanks to a spell. When you defeat the bear, it will drop a Larval Tear.
A shrimp can be found roaming around the northern area of the Folly on the Lake Site of Grace. The shrimp, like any undead-like monster, is a decoy that, when defeated, transforms into a mini boss version of the Grafted Scion. Defeating it in its full form grants you a Larval Tear.
