Sons of Anarchy saw the death of many characters from both the title club and others, and in the end, only a couple of members of SAMCRO were still alive. Back in 2008, viewers explored the world of motorcycle clubs in the drama TV series Sons of Anarchy, created by Kurt Sutter. Over the course of seven seasons, Sons of Anarchy gave the audience a taste of the drama, betrayals, and more that happen among motorcycle clubs (in that universe, at least), and by the end of the series, the club was entirely different from the one the audience met in season 1.
Sons of Anarchy follows Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam), VP of the motorcycle club Sons of Anarchy in the fictional town of Charming, California. The events of the series begin when Jax finds a manifesto written by his late father, John “JT” Teller, one of the founding members of the MC, in which he detailed his plans and vision for the club. These were very different from those of the current President (and Jax’s stepfather), Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), sending him on a personal journey that makes him question his path, role in the club, relationships, and more. Through Jax, the audience met the rest of the members of SAMCRO, of which only a couple were still alive by the end of the series.

At the beginning of Sons of Anarchy, Clay was the President of SAMCRO and Jax was the VP, which is unsurprising given that he was pretty much the heir of the club, while Tig Trager (Kim Coates) served as Sergeant-at-Arms.
