These Elden Ring runes are used to improve one's stats and level up, integral to surviving the game's tougher encounters. There are many legitimate ways to farm for Elden Ring runes, but some players have started to do things like AFK rune farming so they don't have to actually play the game to get runes.
A common way to do this is for Elden Ring players to hide, wait for invaders to come to their game, and then collect the runes after the invader gets frustrated and leaves. Many Elden Ring AFK rune farmers use this method, but it doesn't always work in their favor. Elden Ring players have figured out where the popular AFK rune farming hiding spots are and have been taking out rune farmers with relative ease.
Elden Ring's Horse Had an Attack at One Point
A recent viral clip on Reddit by user Xeraith shows an Elden Ring AFK rune farmer get instant karma. In the clip, Xeraith is summoned to another player's Elden Ring world as a hunter, whose goal is normally to help the host player and protect them from an invader. Xeraith realizes that the host is hiding in an AFK rune farming spot, and goes to drop a Frenzyflame Stone at their feet.
The Elden Ring AFK rune farmer starts running around wildly, and then turns their attention to Xeraith. Perhaps not realizing Xeraith was a hunter sent to help them as opposed to an Elden Ring invader trying to kill them, the AFK rune farmer swings their sword repeatedly. The momentum from the sword swings ultimately send the rune farmer falling off a cliff and to their death, just seconds after the real invader entered their world.
