Dredge may be a lighthearted, rather cute-looking fishing romp on the surface, but hidden just below its moist surface, is a slick layer of cosmic horror. Nothing is quite as it seems, and everyone seems rather mad – which doesn’t bode well. Not only that, but the presence of the unknown has led to certain…mysteries.
One of which is the appearance of Aberrant Fish. These fish are as alien to each other, as they are to their regular fish counterparts. Each one is a disturbing mix of something unnatural, whether that be a bloated rotting sack of organs or an ethereal wisp on the edge of your periphery. But how do you catch them? That’s where we come in.

Aberrant Fish are found everywhere. Every major location in the game (The Marrows, Starlight Basin, Gale Cliffs, etc.) has a selection of Aberrant Fish to find, and as a general rule, there is an Aberrant to two for every regular fish in the ocean.
Finding them is a little bit down to luck, however, there are some ways to make it a bit easier. Namely, looking for the lights. As you trawl across the ocean, you will occasionally spot blue or gold lights shimmering on the water. These are the places you want to be, and you want to be there ASAP.
These special zones will only last for a short while, and once the light fades, the Aberrant will be gone. Sail up to them, drop a line, and catch the fish. Every Aberrant will be marked in your Encyclopedia, and you will be one step closer to uncovering all the secrets of Dredge.
These lights can be hard to spot during the day, so be sure to explore during the night if you want to acquire these slippery devils.
