Dragon's Dogma 2 introduces a disease called Dragonsplague, which infects pawns and causes them to disobey orders. You won't be able to easily tell when a pawn is infected, but once they are, they will be able to infect other pawns in your party too.
Capcom has shared a short description of the ailment already, giving us some vague details on this mysterious status effect.
Rather than being weakened, Pawns with the disease are said to display remarkable performance, and to become conspicuously bold in their speech and behavior.

Outside of this, pawns should be the reliable allies you remember from the first Dragon's Dogma. They'll still help you out in battle and do whatever you tell them to. They'll even let you chuck them off a cliff into the ocean if you so please, because they're there to serve their Arisen. Just don't expect them to shut up anytime soon, because they're even chattier now than
