The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie receives a global theatrical release this summer. Originally inspired by the classic 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West, which was combined with elements of Hong Kong martial arts movies, the initial manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama was first serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995. Now, Dragon Ball is a massive media franchise that spans manga, anime, and video games, which follow the exploits of Son Goku from childhood to adulthood as he trains in martial arts.
Produced by Toei Animation and written by Toriyama, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is the second installment in the Dragon Ball Super film franchise, which began with Dragon Ball Super: Broly in 2018.Super Hero is set to pick up after Goku destroys the evil organization known as the Red Ribbon Army, which has now been reformed by individuals who intend to carry on its spirit through the creation of new, mightier androids. Known as Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, these androids call themselves «Super Heroes» and seek revenge against Piccolo and Gohan.

Now, Crunchyroll and Toei Animation have officially announced a global theatrical release for the newest film in the anime blockbuster franchise. Though they did not provide a specific release date, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is coming to theaters worldwide in August. The film will be distributed to theaters in all continents and released in both Japanese with subtitles and dubbed in various languages.
