It is now possible to make a boomerang on Snapchat. Boomerang initially started as an Instagram feature. First seen in 2015, the feature began as a video app created by Instagram that enabled users to record short, one-second videos, which played on loop for six seconds. These looping videos were similar to animated GIFs and were a massive hit. Users used the feature to take entertaining videos showcasing their everyday lives.
A year later, in 2016, Instagram got rid of Boomerang as a standalone app and integrated the feature into Instagram Stories. Soon after, Snapchat acquired the feature from Instagram and introduced its version of Boomerang. Snapchat's boomerang was announced a couple of years ago but didn't release until August of 2018.

It is pretty easy to make a boomerang on Snapchat or, in Snapchat terms, Bounce video. To add bounce to a snap video, simply press and hold the camera button to take a video. Then tap the Bounce playback mode button. Next, the user can use the slider to choose a portion of the Snap that they would like to bounce. Finally, edit the Bounce in real-time and share it with followers. It is important to note that if the duration of the Snap is longer than the maximum possible length of the Bounce, then Snapchat will take and use only a portion of the Snap for the Bounce video.
It might be helpful to note here that, unfortunately, Android does not allow users to make Bounce videos. As of now, the feature is exclusive to iOS, so Android users will not be able to follow this guide.
