Guy ‘Dr Disrespect‘ Beahm’s legal dispute with Twitch is over.
Beahm was one of Twitch’s most popular streaming personalities prior to the unexpected termination of an exclusive deal with the platform, which was said to have been worth as much as $10 million a year, in June 2020.
The streamer said in August 2021 that he was planning to sue Twitch over his ban from the Amazon-owned platform, but according brief statements posted by both parties this week, the matter has now been settled.
“I have resolved my legal dispute with Twitch,” Beahm said on Twitter. “No party admits to any wrongdoing.”
Twitch provided a similarly short statement to PC Gamer, saying: “”Dr Disrespect and Twitch have resolved their legal dispute. No party admits to any wrongdoing.”
Twitch has never publicly confirmed the reason for the ban and Beahm claimed last July that it hadn’t provided him with an explanation either.
But in a video published last August on YouTube, Beahm claimed he finally knew why he was dropped from Twitch and said he was taking legal action against it. The reason was never publicly shared.
In December 2021 Beahm announced that he had set up a new “AAA” game studio called Midnight Society.
The studio’s three leads consist of Beahm, studio head Robert Bowling and creative director Quinn DelHoyo.
Bowling, also known among Call of Duty players by his username fourzerotwo, was the former creative strategist and community manager at Infinity Ward.
DelHoyo, meanwhile, spent the previous nine years working at 343 Industries, where he was most recently lead sandbox designer on Halo Infinite.
The studio’s first title will be a PVP multiplayer game built with Unreal Engine 5.
