Primal Beast's goal in lane is to terrorize the opponent and get uncontested farm if playing as a core. The skill build is a key element of making this work, as it's possible to completely give up all early game pressure with the hero if the wrong skills are prioritized. On the other hand, the correct skill build ensures that melee heroes cannot lane effectively, and ranged heroes have to be careful when trying to harass the Primal Beast.

Primal Beast has a few different ways to level its skills in Dota 2. Supports tend to prefer the abilities that are useful without items and are good for trading, and cores tend to prefer the skills that allow them to farm faster. The goal of support Primal Beast in Dota 2 is to terrorize the lane and initiate on enemies with Onslaught, the skill build should reflect that. Uproar is taken at level 1 and level 4 to give Primal Beast a monstrous ability to trade, and it pairs incredibly well with Trample to kill any enemy that doesn't have a stun or escape.
