Along with notable new titles like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Mario and Luigi: Brothership, Nintendo is also bolstering the final year of the Nintendo Switch with continued re-releases of beloved classics from previous consoles- like Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, which is due out next January.
Hot on the heels of its announcement, Nintendo has also revealed the remaster’s file size. As per its official listing on the Japanese Switch eShop, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will require about 9 GB of free storage space. In comparison, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze’s Switch port has a file size of 6.7 GB.
That’s slightly on the higher side of what you would expect from a remaster of a decade-plus old game releasing on the Switch, but then again, by modern standards (especially on other platforms), 9 GB is practically nonexistent, so there’s that.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD launches for the Nintendo Switch on January 16, 2025. It is being developed by Forever Entertainment.
