Discord PlayStation support is now rolling out in Europe
Discord support for PlayStation users has started rolling out across Europe.
This is part of a larger rollout that started in the US on Monday and sees Discord support being added to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
Eight months after the announcement of the planned partnership between Sony and the messaging platform, Discord confirmed on Monday that support was “gradually rolling out” to US users, with additional countries to follow.
VGC can now confirm that this has rolled out to the UK and Europe, allowing players to link their PlayStation and Discord accounts.
If users don’t get a notification telling them they can link the accounts, they can do it manually by going to their Discord user settings then choosing the Connections option.
“If you’ve ever connected your Discord account to another service that allows you to display your activity, it works similarly here,” Discord explained on Monday. “Once your Discord account is linked, the game you’re currently playing on either PS4 or PS5 will be shown as your activity, just like that.”
PlayStation users can opt to display their PlayStation Network online ID on their profile so Discord friends can add them. “It’s especially great for knowing if your friend is currently playing a game that supports cross-play on another platform,” Discord said.
Discord was founded in 2015 as a platform for video game players to chat while playing online. Today, it has over 140 million monthly users, with many communities dedicated to a range of topics related to gaming and beyond.
Sony made a minority investment in the platform last year, ahead of its announced partnership.
