Disco Elysium was released in 2019, the brainchild of Robert Kurvitz, a Finnish novelist who had previously published a book set in the same universe. The game quickly grew a fanbase, which culminated in multiple awards, including four Game Awards, three BAFTAs, and a D.I.C.E. Award, cementing it as a critical success. Disco Elysium was praised for its art style, presentation, and refreshing take on combat and NPC interaction. As reported by PC Gamer, Reddit user An_Italian_Meal posted job listings from Studio ZA/UM's site on the Disco Elysium subreddit that hint at what its next project could be. Some skills and requirements that stand out in the job postings are an understanding of architecture or city planning, a love of sci-fi and space, and the creation of non-earth environments. This could mean that Studio ZA/UM is taking its next project in another direction genre-wise, away from the RPG genre of its previous game.
