Though it is possible to befriend more powerful Digimon as the main story progresses, one of the best ways to improve one's team in Digimon Survive is to Digivolve its existing members. Unfortunately, however, the materials needed to do so are somewhat rare, particularly during the first three-quarters of the game. This is especially true of Mature Enlightenments Slabs, which are needed to Digivolve a Digimon from Rookie to Champion form.
Digimon Survive: How to Befriend GranKuwagamon
Though they can be found in chests and are dropped by certain bosses, the only reliable way to get Mature Enlightenments Slabs is by negotiating with one of five specific Digimon. One of these is Kuwagamon, who serves as one of the best late-game sources of the rare evolution item. However, before Digimon Survive players can ask for one of the slabs or for Kuwagamon to become their friend, they'll first need to figure out the best way to respond to its actions.
In order to befriend Kuwagamon, players will first need to select the Talk option while in a Free Battle or random encounter. They'll then be able to select Kuwagamon from the list of foes to initiate a conversation, during which they'll need to respond to three of its questions or statements. Choosing the best responses will fill two segments of the bar above its head, with three needing to be filled by the end of the conversation for a chance to befriend the Digimon.
Despite its somewhat intimidating appearance, Kuwagamon is actually fairly weak, particularly for the point in the game when players first start to encounter it. With this in mind, players shouldn't be afraid to assert their dominance when needed, though it's best to remain non-confrontational unless Kuwagamon is acting
