Even though the official trailer for Destiny 2's Season 17 was supposed to go live just one hour before its launch, the cat's now out of the bag. One of Bungie's regional YouTube accounts accidentally published the trailer well ahead of time, and the developer was subsequently forced to put out the full suite of information about the Season of the Haunted.
With that, the Destiny 2 community is now eagerly awaiting its return to a downtrodden and infested version of the Leviathan, as well as another horror-themed take on the Nightmare-spawning Lunar Pyramid vessel. As exciting as this news might be for players, there may be more to Leviathan than was initially expected, according to Paul Tassi.

Tassi seems to have an inside source at Bungie, and he is now claiming that Destiny 2's planet eating Leviathan ship will be a fully fledged Patrol Zone for the first time. This is further corroborated by the fact that one of the press release folders featured on the official Season 17 landing page is named «LEVIATHAN_FREEROAM.» Of course, this version of the Leviathan will be very far removed from its original opulence, and players who enjoyed last year's Presage mission might have a good idea of what to expect.
Though not everything's gone according to plan, Bungie's reveal of Destiny 2 Season 17 seems to be enjoying a largely positive reception ahead of its imminent release. The notion that players could be getting yet another Patrol Zone just one season after Witch Queen's release is virtually unprecedented, as free-roam areas are usually featured as part of major expansion packs, rather than seasonal releases.
