Being the major endgame-tier events that they are, raid releases in Destiny 2 have always been some of the most memorable and important moments of the franchise's long and storied history. Since raids come with special raid race festivities on day one and Bungie wishes to allow as many players to participate in them as possible, they usually launch on weekends when more people are not working, for example.
This, however, won't be the case with Destiny 2's next reprised Destiny raid, which is set and primed to launch on August 26, a Friday. While Bungie didn't go into much detail on why exactly this was the case in the company's weekly TWAB blog post, one of the developers has gone on record to explain the issue via Twitter.

According to Liana Ruppert, a Bungie community manager, the goal is to avoid Destiny 2's Vow of the Disciple connectivity problems. Those who attempted to play the game's previous raid may recall that the game was plagued with a wealth of networking problems and other assorted issues, making the whole experience way more unpleasant than it should've been. Since Vow launched on Saturday, however, Bungie didn't have nearly as many staff members on hand as there are on a weekday, and Ruppert claims that the studio will be way more agile should similar issues arise with its next reprised Destiny raid.
While Vow of the Disciple was plenty inventive in its own right, the day-one experience was marred for many players and may have even put some of them off from competing in the raid race.
