Bungie shared a ton of new information regarding Destiny 2 and its upcoming expansion at the Destiny 2 Showcase earlier today. The event revealed some interesting new features coming to Destiny 2 with the launch of Lightfall and an official release date for the expansion. Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2: Lightfall launches on February 28, and released a brand new cinematic trailer to go alongside this news.
Destiny 2 currently has four subclasses for each of its primary classes. They are based on four elements: Arc, Void, Solar, and Stasis. As opposed to the original three Light-based powers, Stasis launched with the Beyond Light expansion in 2020, and it gives players access to Darkness-based powers. Now, Bungie has revealed a brand-new type of subclass, called Strand, that will launch with the upcoming Lightfall expansion.

Strand is based on Darkness, and it will give players more movement options in the form of a grappling hook. With the launch of Lightfall, Destiny 2 Guardians will have the power to take advantage of Strand to manipulate their reality as Bungie showed footage of how it functions during gameplay. The main draw seems to be the grapple hook, which will allow players to hook onto a cosmic web even if no object is present. It was originally supposed to be a Hunter ability but Bungie later decided to give it all three classes due to how fun it was to use.
