Universal Pictures'DespicableMe 4 is set to release in July of 2024. The highly-anticipated fourth installment of Illumination's crown jewel franchise will come 14 years after the world was first introduced to the franchise. Children instantly adored the first CGI movie, which follows supervillain Gru as he takes in a trio of orphan girls named Margo, Edith, and Agnes. In the following years, Despicable Me's success spawned two sequels and a spin-off franchise all about the army of little yellow fan-favorite characters: the minions.
Illumination and Universal Pictures have announced that Despicable Me 4 will release on July 3, 2024. The next chapter in the high-grossing franchise sees the return of stars Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan. Familiar talents will also be behind-the-scenes with Chris Renaud, who directed both Despicable Me 1 and 2, returning to direct alongside Patrick Delage (animation director of Sing, Sing 2, The Secret Life of Pets 2). Illumination founder Chris Meledandri is also back to produce, while the original script will be penned by Mike White (School of Rock, White Lotus).
