This week's episode of The Time Traveler's Wife gave viewers of the HBO series a better look at Clare's best friends and how they factor into this retellinig of the science-fiction love story. Charisse and Gomez, played by Natasha Lopez and Desmin Borges respectively, play rather large roles in Audrey Niffenegger's 2003 novel of the same name and also appeared in the well-known film adaptation.
While they've been less present in the first season up to know, episode 4 proved just how important their friendship with Clare (Rose Leslie) is, why their dynamic with Henry (Theo James) is crucial to the survival of his backwards romance, and how much wild fun a meeting over dinner can be when time travel is involved.

Of course it's not all fun and games, seeing as Charisse and Gomez's feelings for each other and for Clare can get very murky — a fact that's only further complicated by the arrival of Henry into their lives and the entirely new dimension of reality he brings. Borges and Lopez spoke to Screen Rant about how their characters fit into Clare and Henry's romance, and what it's like to take part in the more fantastical aspects of The Time Traveler's Wife.
