The new trailer and first still image for Derry Girls season 3 has finally hit the internet. Derry Girls, which airs on Channel 4 in the UK and as a Netflix original in North America, first hit screens back in 2018. The series tells the story of four Irish teenage girls and one English teenage boy during the 90's as they navigate their lives during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The series is written and created by Lisa McGee, who drew on her own life experiences growing up during the Troubles to create this fan-favorite comedy.
Derry Girls' hit first season was followed up only a year later with an equally well-received season 2. Derry Girls season 2 followed the group as Northern Ireland experienced tentative peacetime, and ended on an extremely heartwarming note which made audiences everywhere beg for more episodes. They have now been waiting nearly three years for a new season of the series. Derry Girls season 3 was, unfortunately, one of the many productions that found itself repeatedly delayed due to the COVID 19 pandemic. However, fans can finally rest easy knowing that new episodes are on the horizon.

The Derry Girls season 3 trailer has finally been released by Channel 4. The trailer shows that while peace may be lasting in Derry, the peace may not be extending into the lives of Erin, Orla, Claire, Michelle, and James. While specific stories have not been revealed, the characters are clearly finding themselves in their usual unfortunate situations which they are treating as life or death (whether they are or not), and of course, Gerry is in trouble as always.
