Dune: Part Two director has revealed that he has quite a few projects on the table, including a time-sensitive secret one.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Villeneuve was asked about if he’s waiting for the cast of Dune to age up a bit before filming the third movie in the series. The director explained that it’s more about taking a break and having the right screenplay, though he also has four projects on the table. Of those four, one of them is “a secret” one that is somewhat time-sensitive.
“I have four projects on the table, currently,” the filmmaker explained. “One of them is a secret project that I cannot talk about right now, but that needs to see the light of day quite quickly. So it would be a good idea to do something in between projects, before tackling Dune Messiah and Cleopatra. All these projects are still being written, so we’ll see where they go, but I have no control over that.”
Dune: Part Two is Villeneuve’s most recent movie, which he directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts. The sequel features the return of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Joining them are new cast members Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, and Souheila Yacoub as Shishakli.
