From Chapter 2, Death end re;Quest 2 will start throwing multiple-choice dilemmas your way. These may seem like interesting branches for your characters to traverse in the greater story, but for the most part, they lead to tragedy and death.

Your first multiple-choice decision comes in the form of a mysterious USB stick Mai has had in her possession since the beginning of the game. What you do with it determines the fate of the party. The results are almost instantaneous, so you will know if you picked right with a couple of lines of Dialogue.
If you opt to insert your USB stick into the homicidal Laptop, then everything will end up peachy. Mai will gain a narrative (not gameplay) boost in power, immediately murder a roaming monster, and the world itself will morph around her to grant access to parts of Le Choara.
You will also be introduced to Iris, an AI who controls the very fabric of reality, and learn more about the mysterious maid who has been cropping up - you know, the one holding knives and being generally suspicious.
Picking this option will advance the story, and will lead you down the path to the ‘Good’ ending.
Not inserting the USB stick is not the best idea in the world. As you saw in a previous excursion, this laptop is pretty darn murderous, and it doesn’t like unauthorized visitors. Because you refused to slot in your stick, the laptop initiates its ‘degrade’ system.
This leads you to a unique ‘Game Over’, and, to one of the many ‘Bad’ endings. Thankfully this choice won’t knock you back very far, as the game will give you the option to reload from the last decision you made.
