Few things please Hawkeye more than a good trick arrow, so when Deadpool once debuted his own trick projectiles in a fight alongside the Avenger, Clint Barton couldn't help but admit he was impressed as it earned his respect. In A + X #8 by Marvel Comics, the unlikely team-up between Deadpool and Hawkeye features the Merc with the Mouth using his version of trick arrows, which end up packing a considerable punch.
In the pages of Marvel Comics, Hawkeye has long been a fan of trick arrows, which was never more obvious than in Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Matt Hollingsworth's iconic run on the hero, where the hero routinely used different arrows during his battles. From a putty arrow, to a tear-gas arrow, to an explosive-tip arrow, to a suction-tip arrow, to a boomerang arrow, Clint Barton seemed to have an arrow for every occasion — and loved showing off his creations. However, after encountering Deadpool, Hawkeye was given a taste of his own medicine, as the antihero came prepared with a bow and trick arrows.

In A + X #8 by Christopher Hastings, Reilly Brown, Brad Armstrong, and VC's Clayton Cowles from Marvel Comics, Hawkeye and Deadpool find themselves fighting together in a mission against a group of pirates. But, when they reach the villains, a firefight breaks out. While Hawkeye pulls out his bow, Deadpool opts to do the same, much to the surprise of the Avenger. The Merc with a Mouth says «when in Rome,» as he shoots arrows at the pirates. Then, in one of the more funny moments from the comic, he pulls out a trick arrow with a Hulk hand, earning Hawkeye's respect.
