The silliest heist ever to be pulled off in Marvel Comics involved master thief Gambitand the infamously amoral Deadpoolimpersonating two beloved superheroes. This act of criminal activity would be a first for Gambit since leaving the Thieves Guild and turning over a new leaf with the X-Men. With the questionable influence of Deadpool, however, it seems old habits die hard and Gambit was all too willing to pull off one more score.
In Deadpool v Gambit#1 by Ben Acker, Ben Blacker, and Danilo Beyruth, Gambit spots Deadpool while the two are standing in line to grab a cup of coffee. Their greeting sparked a flashback sequence of the last time they saw each other which is when they worked together to steal a number of valuable jewels. When the job was done, Gambit and Deadpool realized they had been double-crossed by the guy who set up the score. Despite the double-cross that launched the storyline for the rest of the limited series, there wouldn’t have been any diamonds for their employer to hoard in the first place if it wasn’t for that first job, and the brilliant, albeit incredibly silly, way Deadpool and Gambit pulled off the heist.

In order to avoid any unwanted attention, Gambit and Deadpool decided to dress up like two of the most upstanding superheroes in New York City while they discreetly stole a number of diamonds. Deadpool took on the role of Spider-Man and Gambit dressed up as Daredevil. Their plan was to meet in their fake superhero costumes at an art museum and get into a fight, pretending like Spider-Man and Daredevil had some feud that could only be settled with a city-wide pursuit.
