It's just been a few months since Apple introduced the iPhone 13 series in the market and the speculation regarding iPhone 14 series has already become a major permanent trend on the internet. A report has now suggested that Apple's upcoming smartphone iPhone 14 Pro is likely to feature a bigger hole-punch than thought earlier. Several reports have already been claiming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will have the infamous and much-copied hole-punch notch and pill-shape cutouts at the top of the screen. And now, AppleInsider has reported, “While it is thought that the design could reduce the amount of intrusion into the display, a leak indicates it may not be as much of a reduction as expected.”
The portal has shared that an image posted to Weibo and later corroborated by leaker Jon Prosser shows the display of an iPhone 14 model having the hole-punch and pill layout at the top of the display. In the video, Prosser later overlaid the image on top of the render for the supposed display, and the two don't quite match up.
While both display gaps look quite slim and small, the punch hole notche looks roughly twice the size than speculated.
If it’s true, the double-hole design could occupy a lot of display and make it much more noticeable to consumers. However, it is unclear if the non-Pro iPhone 14 models will also have a dual-hole design, as rumours are currently pointing to the iPhone 14 Pro models only.
A rumour also suggests loss of the camera bump from the rear, as well as a camera sensor upgrade from 12MP cameras to 48MP. Some other rumours have added that the upcoming iPhone 14 will offer better battery life than the previous models because of a new 5G chipset.
