The publisher behind the upcoming Dead Island 2, Deep Silver, showed off a trailer for the title at the most recent Gamescom along with a little bit of gameplay. The trailers included plenty of “over-the-topness” and a whole bunch of zombie slaying.
The main character in the biggest and most extensive trailer can be seen waking up from a rough night of killing zombies. The scene includes a broken down apartment filled with rubble and rubbish. The person then steps outside into the daylight before being suddenly attacked by a hoard of zombies.

According to the publisher, the game is all about “experimenting with your preferred zombie killing” mode. The game is apparently going to be set in a post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles, California in addition to a variety of other cities.
When it comes to a release date, Deep Silver indicated that fans of the franchise can expect the game on February 3, 2023.
Dead Island 2 has been experiencing a difficult process of development, disappearing off the radar entirely for several years before suddenly making its way back into the limelight. Deep Silver noted this past February how the game was “in active development,” but the company has mostly been quiet on the matter over the course of the past six months.
The game originally began development at a studio called Yager back in 2012 before being handed over to Sumo Digital four years later. In much the same way as Yager, Sumo lost control over the project when Deep Silver transferred responsibility for its development to a studio called Dambuster in 2019.
