Days Gone director Jeff Ross is once again talking about rejected video game pitches. The latest idea that never saw the light of day was an Uncharted spin-off set in the '70s and featuring a "sexy" Sully fresh out of the Navy. The implication that Sully isn't already sexy is, quite frankly, insulting to all silver foxes out there. Keep your grey heads up, Kings.
Speaking on the Scared Symbols + show, which is paywalled but was transcribed by VGC, Ross detailed some ideas he had once Sony decided against green lighting a sequel to Days Gone - although Bend is working on something for the PS5.

Ross said the pitch involved a young Victor Sullivan, fresh off the Navy boat and looking to get into some mischief. The game would be set in 1976 and be about the beginning of Sully's life as the hustler we know him as today.
A 25-year-old Sully would be part of a "very stylised world", but Ross was concerned there wouldn't be enough opportunities for shootouts and didn't want to make "the first Uncharted game where the player didn’t shoot anybody."
He pictured young Sully as a Sean Connery as James Bond type, which, coupled with the very stylised period setting should immediately should set off some alarm bells. Given Connery's Bond raped women, the setting feels like a perfect storm for a very regressive game.
Ross did say he wanted to avoid the cheesy parts of the era, but also said inspirations included Joker and Once Upon A time In Hollywood. However, Bend Studios did develop Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PS Vita, which was the best selling game on the platform, so maybe this idea had legs.
