Ahead of his appearance in Disney+’s Echo, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil gets a new black suit in a fan poster for the series. Before Marvel Studios began expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+, Marvel’s street-level heroes defended the small screen on ABC, Hulu, Netflix, and Freeform. In 2018, shows including Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, and Daredevil were canceled, leaving fans to wonder if they’d ever see characters like Matt Murdock or Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) in the larger MCU.
But last year Daredevil and Kingpin made their official MCU debuts in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Disney+’s Hawkeye, respectively. Where the former saw Cox cameo as Peter Parker’s legal counsel, D’Onofrio reprised his role in the final two episodes of Hawkeye—which revealed the Tracksuit Mafia and Maya Lopez/Echo (Alaqua Cox) were working for Kingpin. The finale saw Maya shoot the crime boss (off-screen) for his role in her father’s death, leaving Kingpin’s fate unknown. Now, Cox and D’Onofrio are officially set to appear in Disney+’s Echo spinoff before Daredevil season 4.
