The Xbox Games Showcase brought us the long-awaited release date for Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty. Which is September 26, for anyone that missed it. In the run-up to its big story unveil, many of us had simply been referring to it as Cyberpunk 2077's DLC, since it was assumed that like other DLCs, it would just expand the story, giving us more to do in the base game. That, however, doesn't appear to be the case.
Just after we got the new trailer, Cyberpunk 2077 devs are making it clear that we shouldn't view Phantom Liberty as a DLC, but as an entire expansion. The creative director Paweł Sasko is even saying that some areas of the game have been completely rebuilt, with almost every part of 2077 receiving an update in this expansion.

During Summer Game Fest, the CD Projekt Red team has been speaking about the upcoming expansion. Now that it's been unveiled at the Xbox Showcase, these new details are being shared with us, and it sounds like the expansion will go even further than the new trailer suggests.
Speaking with VGC, Sasko says that "all the core mains systems" of 2077 have been "redone or updated in a major way." He also says that the perk system has been "rebuilt", since some fans found this to be a little lacklustre for an RPG.
Better yet, he says that the expansion will even add a feature that was promised before the base game's launch: vehicle combat. Before, the only way to fight from a car or bike was to wait for the scripted moments it happens in the story, or download a mod on PC.
