Kojima Productions announced its support for Apple platforms during the iPhone maker’s Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday.
Speaking during an event live stream, Hideo Kojima confirmed that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut will be released for Mac later this year, with pre-orders set to open soon.
“This is just the beginning, and we are actively working to bring our future titles to Apple platforms,” he said.
While the Metal Gear creator didn’t elaborate, Kojima Productions is officially working on Death Stranding 2 for PS5 and a mystery cloud project with Xbox, which could be a horror title called Overdose.

“I have been a die-hard Apple fan since I bought my first Mac back in 1994,” Kojima claimed. “It has been a dream of mine to see my team’s best work come to life on the Mac.
“Now we are entering a new era for gaming on the Mac. So, I’m very happy to announce that we are bringing Death Stranding: Director’s Cut to the Mac later this year.
“Death Stranding Director’s Cut on the Mac takes full advantage of the latest Apple technologies to provide the best experience to our fans.
“I was blown away by the power of Apple silicon and Metal 3, with its modern rendering pipeline, and the amazing graphical fidelity delivered by MetalFX upscaling.”
Apple also used Monday’s event to announce its long-anticipated mixed reality headset, Vision Pro.
Billed as its “first spatial computer”, the headset will cost $3,499 when it launches in the United States in early 2024.
