Core Keeper doesn't follow a traditional formula when it comes to essential encounters. Much like the game Terraria, there isn't much direction except to get stronger and get better gear so that you can progress further. The regions in the game are pretty expansive with few clues as to what they include until you reach them.

This requires you to be at a certain stage before you can advance, which can lead to you fighting some very dangerous enemies and bosses hiding in the dark parts of the map. Keep exploring, and you'll eventually run into the blob-like Ivy The Poisonous Mass.

Slimes and blob enemies are a common feature in RPG games and typically serve as fodder enemies to help get some easy experience. However, they can come in several varieties with some being more dangerous than others.
One such variant in Core Keeper is the Purple Slimes which secrete a poison that reduces the effectiveness of healing and can be found swarming the giant Purple Slime that is Ivy The Poisonous Mass. This large blob can be found in Azeos' Wilderness with telltale signs being the overwhelming presence of purple slime trails.
The good news is that Ivy is a fairly simple boss. Its main method of hurting you is through contact damage. It does this by bouncing around the area and attempting to crush you. What makes Ivy dangerous, however, is that it will actively pursue you as long as you're in its lair. It can leap quite far and indicates its leap by glowing briefly.
