Want a new graphics card with a GPU from 2017 combined with small amount of last-gen memory? Me neither, but here we are and that's what we're getting from Colorful.
Usually when a new graphics card hits the market it offers a nice performance boost over what has come before, or at least more performance at a lower price point. That's certainly not the case for Colorful's GeForce GT 1010 graphics card, which is based on an updated Nvidia GPU from 2017 and combined with a mere 2GB of DDR4 memory.
As Videocardz reports(Opens in a new window), the new card uses the GeForce GT1010 chip series, which is a 14nm chip based on a 2021 update to the Nvidia GP108 GPU. The GP108-200-A1 variant added support for DirectX 12, allowing it to run modern games ("run" is a relative term here) and includes 256 CUDA cores. The card runs at 1,151MHz boosting to 1,379MHz, while that 2GB of DDR4 memory runs at 2.1Gbps. The result is 16.8GB/s of bandwidth, which is 60x slower than what you'll experience at the high end of the spectrum with an RTX 3090 Ti (1TB/s of bandwidth).
On a positive note, you won't need to worry about your existing power supply being able to cope with the GT 1010 as it only draws 20W. It's also possible to hook up a couple of displays thanks to the two HDMI ports included on the back panel.
There's no word on pricing or availability yet, but the slightly more performant GeForce GT 1030 graphics cards can be purchased for between $100-$140(Opens in a new window), so this Colorful card should definitely appear for significantly less than $100.
