A new leak claims Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will feature a mode named DMZ that includes a marketplace for trading and buying in-game items such as skins and blueprints. After a long period of rumors and speculation, Activision Blizzard and developer Infinity Ward confirmed Modern Warfare 2 andWarzone 2 were in the works earlier this year. Such an announcement sparked a wave of confusion, given that the Modern Warfare 2 title already exists thanks to the 2009 Call of Duty release. It seems Activision will differentiate between the two names by leaning heavily into the Roman numeral spelling of the number two for the 2022 installment.
The first Modern Warfare hit store shelves in 2007, providing a groundbreaking experience that effectively launched Call of Duty into the stratosphere. Its sequel followed just a couple of years later, further securing the shooter's place of dominance on the market.
