Fast Travel Games has announced that the VR interpretation of its popular city builder Cities: Skylines is launching next month. The game, aptly titled Cities: VR, will be available on Meta Quest 2 headsets beginning April 28 and anyone who preorders the game will receive a 10% discount. Plus, the developer announced that Cities: VR will continuously be improved post-launch with free content and regular updates.
This virtual reality experience was initially announced back in December of last year. Along with the announcement, Fast Travel Games and Paradox Interactive showed off a short reveal trailer for the experience. However, the trailer didn’t offer a lot of information beyond the fact that players would be able to build a city using an immersive camera and interactive hand controls. Now, the duo has revealed more of what players can expect from Cities: VR.

This new VR interpretation of Cities: Skylines will not be a port of the original. Instead, it will offer a more intimate experience for prospective virtual civil engineers. This is mainly because VR does not offer the same scale and size that a PC does. So, the developer decided to narrow the scope of the VR experience for a more focused experience. Unfortunately, this means that some features, like terrain editing and natural disasters, are not available within the VR version. Although, there are plans to incorporate more features and content into Cities: VR over time.
