Chris Jericho has recreated himself a handful of times since joining AEW, and a recent trademark filing for «The Wizard» seems to indicate that the newest manifestation of himself is here to stay. During a backstage segment on the April 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, the former WWE and WCW superstar hit rival Eddie Kingston in the face with a fireball. The Jericho Appreciation Society ran off immediately after, leaving other wrestlers to check on a fallen and injured Kingston.
Kingston and Jericho have been at odds for the entirety of 2022, wrestling at AEW Revolution in a physical confrontation that settled nothing between them. Since then, the intensity between the two men has only increased, with Jericho refusing to give the Mad King respect after he won their bout at Revolution. This all led to the backstage assault that saw Y2J hit Kingston in the face with a blast of fire, allegedly burning off his eyebrows and scaring his wife in the process. This has led to Jericho referring to himself as «The Wizard,» seeming to imply that he was actually able to cast magic during his attack on Kingston.

It seems as if that new aspect of his character will be sticking around. PWInsider.com is reporting that Jericho has filed to trademark «The Wizard» for "(e)ntertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer." The official YouTube channel of AEW also has Jericho's most recent match against Santana labeled as "'The Wizard' Chris Jericho Destroys Santan In A Grudge Match," while commentators have also been referencing him by that nickname recently.
