It's been a busy couple of years for the Resident Evil franchise. Following the release of Village on the games-end of things, a new live-action movie hit theaters called Welcome To Racoon City in the winter of 2021. Now, the first live-action Resident Evil show is primed to hit Netflix this June, and this time we'll be focusing on the Wesker family, made up of none other than long-time video game villain Albert Wesker and his two daughters, Jade and Billie.
Check out the show's first teaser to get a better idea of what, exactly, is instore for all three of them across the first season's eight episodes.
Netflix's official description for the series reads: «Year 2036--14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.»
Showrunner Andrew Dabb explained to a group of journalists at the Netflix office in Hollywood that, while the show will not be directly adapting any of the games, it does exist within the established timeline and canon of the games. This means that, yes, Albert Wesker did die in this universe back in 2009 via rocket launcher and volcano, and, no, he didn't magically survive thanks to some sort of volcano-and-rocket proof body armor. Dabb went on to tease that who this Wesker is, who his daughters are, and how any of them exist in the first place is one of the core mysteries of the show.
While the teaser is unsurprisingly pretty vague in terms of details and plot moments, keep an eye out for some stealthy Easter
