Certain Affinity has announced that it’s taken on additional Halo Infinite development duties.
The prolific support studio, which is based in Austin, Texas, has collaborated on instalments in the Halo and Call of Duty franchises since 2007, as well as shooters Left 4 Dead and Doom.
Certain Affinity revealed in the summer of 2020 that it had been working with Xbox studio 343 Industries on Halo Infinite since the previous December.
And on Tuesday the company suggested it will play an even bigger role on the game going forward.
“We’ve been part of the Halo franchise for more than 15 years and we’re honored to say we are deepening our relationship with 343 and have been entrusted with further evolving Halo Infinite in some new and exciting ways,” it wrote. “Join us on our journey.”
Certain Affinity is now hiring for all disciplines across Austin, Toronto and remote.
In January, Windows Central said it had received hints that Certain Affinity may be developing a new Halo Infinite game mode, which could be the shooter’s take on battle royale or something else entirely.
The report also backed up claims that Xbox is working on a Monster Hunter-style co-op game with Certain Affinity.
Microsoft’s decision to entrust Certain Affinity with additional Halo Infinite development duties is not a surprise given their longstanding relationship and the troubles 343 has faced in releasing new content.
Last month, a member of the Halo Infinite development team acknowledged that the game’s community was “out of patience” at 343’s perceived lack of activity and communication.
