Marvel has officially confirmed that Captain America 4 will be called Captain America: New World Order, a title that has a couple of possible meanings and hints at the director for Sam Wilson's (Anthony Mackie) first movie as the new Star-Spangled Avenger. Sam officially transformed from Falcon into the new Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, having initially been given the shield by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Shortly after Falcon & Winter Soldier's ending, it was reported that Captain America 4 was in the works with Mackie returning, and that was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
Coming as part of Marvel's Phase 5 slate, Captain America: New World Order is one of the biggest upcoming MCU movies, and the first film to be completely centered around a legacy hero. Since Falcon & Winter Soldier explored so much of Sam's journey to accepting the Captain America shield, then New World Order will be able to pick-up with him a little more established, but few other details about the movie have been confirmed so far. Still, the title alone leaves room to speculate on.
Interestingly, the idea of New World Order has already been explored with Sam Wilson's Captain America. Indeed, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier episode 1 was titled «New World Order,» and the show explored that further with the Flag-Smashers looking to help maintain the world without borders that had arisen after Thanos' Snap was reversed and Earth's population was restored. Although the show had seemingly wrapped that up thanks to Sam's impassioned speech, Captain America: New World Order's title suggests it could be showing more of either that fallout, or further from an ever-changing world as the multiverse
