Capcom has announced that it will be launching a game development competition for Japanese students using its RE Engine, with the aim being to “strengthen the game industry”.
The Capcom Games Competition, which Capcom says is the first of its kind for the company, will be open to students aged 18+ who are enrolled in a university, graduate school or vocational school in Japan.
Students will form teams of up to 20 people, and will create games using development tools like Capcom’s own prioprietary RE Engine, which they’ll gain access to through a cloud environment.
Teams will assign roles based on typical game development job titles, and will have access to support from professional developers working at Capcom. They’ll have to create and submit their game within a six-month period.
