Developer Striking Distance has confirmed that its debut titleThe Callisto Protocol will also launch across PS4 and Xbox One consoles. New details about the sci-fi horror game are making the rounds thanks to Game Informer's Callisto Protocol cover story, which the publication teased a little less than a week ago. But the experience itself entered the public consciousness in late 2020 when Striking Distance unveiled its Dead Space-inspired project during The Game Awards that December.
As many already know, the constant Dead Space comparisons constitute no mere accident. Striking Distance CEO Glen Schofield served as one of the creative minds behind Visceral Games' and EA's groundbreaking survival horror series. And it looks as though that DNA bleeds heavily into the terror-inducing world of Callisto Protocol, which is in development for PC and consoles. Up until now, the expectation was that Callisto Protocol would only see the light of day on PC and current-gen consoles; fortunately, Striking Distance has cleared the air on this front.

At a time when upcoming games like Gotham Knights have axed PS4 and Xbox One versions, The Callisto Protocol will do the opposite. Windows Central notes that in Game Informer Issue #346, the publication confirms that current-gen console owners will be able to pick up a copy of The Callisto Protocol. In addition, developer Striking Distance and publisher Krafton still plan to release the horror title in 2022, though a specific due date presently remains under wraps.
