While Fortnite has been capitalizing on marketing crossover events and tie-ins for some time, Call of Duty: Warzone has largely been bereft of them. It's unclear why Call of Duty: Warzone hasn't featured crossover content, but perhaps it was waiting for the right opportunity. That's about to change, however, as Activision has announced a very big marketing crossover. Call of Duty: Warzone will soon start Operation Monarch, a tie-in with the film Godzilla vs. Kong.
The announcement was made via a newly released teaser trailer. The cinematic trailer features an island that could be Caldera, King Kong snatching a plane out of the air before smashing it, followed by Godzilla stalking out of the water. King Kong and Godzilla then move toward each other, with the trailer ending as the two are about to attack. It's reminiscent, if not directly inspired by, similar cinematic footage used to advertise the Godzilla vs. Kong film.

The only other notable aspect of the cinematic trailer is some narrative laid overtop provided by Captain Price. Price explains that a «storm» is coming, something «powerful and fearsome» and beyond comprehension. Price doesn't elaborate any further, nor does he specifically mention Godzilla or King Kong. There's really no clues whatsoever provided about what the Call of Duty: Warzone event will offer in terms of a gameplay experience.
Outside of the trailer, Activision does provide a release date for when Operation Monarch will officially begin.
