After destroying and replacing the Verdansk map last year, Activision has plans to bring it back to Call Of Duty: Warzone in 2023.
For the longest time, Verdansk was the only map available in Call Of Duty: Warzone. Until Activision blew it up and replaced it with the new Caldera map to coincide with Call Of Duty: Vanguard’s release.
That was only four months ago and it turns out Activision already has plans to bring Verdansk back in a 2023 update, following the release of Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.
An Activision employee revealed this information during a now-deleted livestream. Although they mention that Verdansk will only come back for ‘certain platforms.’
Call Of Duty: Warzone 2, meanwhile, is said to feature a ‘new big map,’ suggesting that it will be something entirely original and not just a reworked version of Verdansk.
These comments have some fans speculating that Verdansk will only feature in the mobile version of Call Of Duty: Warzone. This version was rumoured for ages, but Activision finally admitted its existence in March through a blog post searching for new hires.
In response to the clip, which has been shared on Reddit, one fan theorises that Verdansk will come back to the console versions of Warzone 1 since Warzone 2 is expected to be an entirely separate game. One that will release only for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
‘I think at best this means they will keep Verdansk on old gen consoles as they’ve said Warzone 2 will be next gen (now current gen) and PC only. And there won’t be inter-gen compatibility so Warzone 2 and Warzone legacy will be separate titles,’ says Symester92.
While Warzone 2 is expected to release later this year, Activision is unlikely to immediately drop support for the first one,
